For building my ceramic objects and vessels I use the coil-and pinch technique, building the walls of my works fairly thin .
Often I implement slabs as well, to close an object, or as a design aspect.
When the form is ready, I scratch the surface or leave the fingerprints as a surface structure.
I make my objects using Stoneware clay of different colors, adding under-glazes and glazes.
My sculptural works are fired to 1000°c in the bisque fire, and to 1080°c in the glaze firings. The vase objects are fired to 1240°c.
I like to sandblast my works after the glaze firing in order to get a rough weathered surface.
My objects vary in size, but the largest scale fitting into my kiln is approximately 40cm.

Clay and glazes are fascinating materials to me because of the vast possibilities you have to form it and design its surface. I mostly use the coil-building technique, in combination with slabs. In this way I am exploring ancient techniques, yet giving my works a contemporary appearance. The shape of my forms is an important part of my works. Here I work very controlled. For the surface design I like to combine controlled movement with coincidense. This is the more experimental part of my artistic approach.
